BIOGRAPHY
Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.
Simon has worked as a health focused strength and conditioning coach in the City of London since 2010. He is currently engaged in Olympic Weightlifting training as part of his rehabilitation following a bicep rupture injury and looks to take this sport further. In 2011, Simon was selected for the Great Britain Junior Bobsleigh Team through the Pitch2Podium talent transfer programme. He has competed in several competitions around the globe.
Before graduating from Loughborough University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport and Exercise Physiology, Simon played Rugby Union to a high level, including England County representation and trials for Under 16s England selection alongside Leicester Tigers.
Simon is aspirational for his clients and sensitive to their needs regarding the health challenges they face. His passion for health and fitness combined with his knowledge of the key principles has enabled him to develop his unique methodology in constructing training programmes.
Simon’s approach is holistic, and integrates physiology, nutrition, biochemistry and psychology. In addition to this, his own experiences of the challenges of injury and setbacks have given him insight and empathy for all who train with him.
Simon’s passion for life makes training with him an energising and uplifting experience.
PHILOSOPHY
The mind is the most important muscle to train.
Conventional thinking is that nutrition and exercise are the only key features to good health. This is why obesity rates have been rising to global epidemic levels in many countries, and generally we are more tired, stressed and unhappy than ever before. Health encompasses the mind, body, emotions and lifestyle in alignment. My clients learn that balance in all areas of life is the key to health, and inevitably happiness. If one or more of these aspects are out of balance then our health is not optimised.
What we experience physically, mentally and just generally in day-to-day life are tough and can raise a lot of issues about our whole being.
Changing your body can lead to the belief that changing other aspects in life is truly achievable. Delivering results is a long and non-linear path, with trial and error playing a huge part. It is the ability to change our thoughts, and in turn our lives, that makes humans unique.
I believe our minds are the most important muscle to train, with exercise being a potent stimulus. My training programs, with health and well-being at the core, are delivered in an easy and manageable format with enjoyment and enthusiasm to ensure that they are sustainable in the long-term.
